Smile Train is a nonprofit organization based in New York City, established in 1999. It provides free corrective surgery for children born with cleft lips and palates in 87 countries. The organization focuses on empowering local medical professionals by training them to perform cleft repair surgeries and supporting hospitals with necessary funding and resources.

In addition to surgeries, Smile Train offers comprehensive cleft care, which includes speech therapy, dental care, psychological support, and nutritional assistance. The organization also produces educational resources, such as multilingual DVDs and digital content, to teach advanced cleft surgery techniques to surgeons worldwide. This approach ensures sustainable care within local communities.

Smile Train aims to create lasting healthcare capacity and improve the lives of children with cleft conditions. It collaborates with local hospitals, healthcare providers, and governments to integrate cleft care into existing health systems, advocating for cleft care at international forums.
