Established in 2003 as the Nordic Film Forum, SCANORAMA has evolved into one of Lithuania's premier film festivals, highlighting European cinema. Annually, it presents over 100 films from esteemed international festivals, attracting around 30,000 attendees.
At the heart of SCANORAMA are its two competition programs, dedicated to emerging short and feature-length film directors. Winners, selected by an international jury of industry experts, receive financial awards and global promotion.
Beyond screenings, SCANORAMA enriches the festival experience with educational events, thematic previews, and filmmaker discussions. The industry event 'SCA Directions' offers masterclasses with renowned cinema figures like Sergei Loznitsa, Agnieszka Holland, Peter Moland, Ulrike Ottinger, and Allan Starski, providing invaluable networking opportunities for film professionals.
As a proud member of the 'Moving Images – Open Borders' network, SCANORAMA collaborates with six other European film festivals to celebrate artistic diversity, regional uniqueness, and the socio-political dimensions of European cinema. The network also promotes sustainability, accessibility, equality, and professional growth, with SCANORAMA coordinating these efforts from 2022 to 2026.
