The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 by Dr. Neal Barnard. Based in Washington, DC, PCRM focuses on improving human and animal health by promoting plant-based diets and advancing ethical, nonanimal scientific research. The organization unites over 17,000 physicians and nearly one million supporters worldwide to influence medical practice, research, and public policy.

PCRM advocates for medical education reform by eliminating animal use in training, promoting humane alternatives like simulators. It also supports the development of nonanimal research methods and works to reduce animal testing in chemical safety evaluations. The organization emphasizes the prevention of chronic diseases through plant-based nutrition and conducts public awareness campaigns to highlight ethical issues in animal research. PCRM provides educational resources, scientific research, and advocacy tools to healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public, aiming to foster a healthier and more compassionate approach to science and medicine.
