Bitkey is a self-custody bitcoin wallet platform developed by Block, Inc. It enables users to securely own and manage their bitcoin through a combination of a mobile application, a hardware device, and recovery tools, all integrated into a 2-of-3 multisignature wallet system. This system requires two of three private keys to authorize transactions, ensuring users maintain full control over their funds while providing resilience against the loss of keys or devices.

Key features of Bitkey include a mobile key for initiating and signing payments, a hardware key for co-signing larger transactions, and a server key to assist in recovery if both the mobile and hardware keys are lost. The platform also offers cloud backup, recovery contacts, and an emergency exit kit for added security. Bitkey aims to empower users by facilitating the transition to self-custody, targeting the next 100 million bitcoin users globally, and integrates with major platforms like Coinbase and Cash App for seamless bitcoin transfers.
